Chiropody is an old term for Podiatry.

The first-ever recorded chiropodist in Victoria operated in Geelong in 1842. In 1963 American Chiropodists formally adopted the designation “Podiatry”, meaning “physician of the foot”. This was mainly to avoid possible mix-ups with the chiropractic profession. Australian chiropodists followed suit and officially changed the name of their profession to Podiatry in 1977.
