Inanimate Political Candidates
In 1967 the small village of Picoaza in Ecuador held an election to find their new mayor. In the hope of increasing the brand awareness, the manufactures of Pulvapies foot powder ran a series of tongue-in-cheek election-themed advertisements with the slogan: “Vote for any candidate, but if you want well-being and hygiene, vote for Pulvapies.” Pulvapies foot powder not only received enough write-in votes to win the election but also saw dozens of votes from citizens from outlying municipalities. So just remember, that’s one solution to consider if you get sick of our politicians!
